AEGEAN RISING: Why Our Mythology Is Our History

A recent discussion on social media, prompted by Christopher Nolan's new film, "The Odyssey", left me with a familiar, bitter aftertaste.
It's the taste you get when you try to defend the Ancient Greek Heritage and speak about its depth, but you run into people who refuse to see beyond their narrow framework, people trapped in their own blinders, who simply write whatever comes into their head.
When I expressed my opposition to the distortion of Greek Mythology, to the fact that foreign producers do not prefer Greek actors to embody our heroes, and to the alteration of Ancient Archetypes, the reactions of some internet "experts" were exactly as expected.
But the time has come for a Spiritual Emergence.
The time has come for our own Aegean Rising.
1. Our Mythology is not "Fantasy Fiction".
It is our History.
For the rest of the World, the Odyssey and the Iliad may seem like movies like Lord of the Rings.
But for us Greeks, Ancient Greek Mythology is our History, our DNA, and our Cultural Identity.
These are not random fantasy tales.
It is the recorded Soul of our Ancestors, a system of values, Philosophy, and historical Truths that dressed the birth of Western civilization in symbols.
When Hollywood distorts it for the sake of special effects and commercialism, it is not just making an "artistic intervention"; it is altering a living historical legacy.
2. The Absence of Greek Actors and the Distortion of Archetypes
It is at least paradoxical that films about Greek History are made without employing Greek actors who carry within them the lived experience, the language, and the Archetype of these heroes.
Even the description of the characters is subordinated to modern commercial standards, ignoring the accuracy of ancient texts.
For example, Homer repeatedly refers to the Beautiful Helen as "white-armed" (the woman with white arms), a specific, poetic, and archetypal description that symbolized nobility, lineage, and the inner beauty of the era.
When these details are erased or arbitrarily changed, the work loses its Soul.
3. What Do We Answer to People with Blinders?
In the Psychology of Carl Jung, we know that people who attack when someone defends depth and tradition do so out of ignorance or fear.
It is easier to consume a shallow, spectacular performance than to recognize the weight of history hidden behind it.
The truth is that we don't need to convince anyone.
Our mission, through the Academy of Inner Light, is to keep the "Inner Light" of knowledge lit.
To continue to study, highlight, and protect our Ancient Heritage without being affected by the noise of the "Digital Coffeehouse."
Our Own Journey Continues
The "Odyssey" is the ultimate journey of the Soul towards Ithaca [Carl Jung].
People with blinders and shallow approaches are just another noise on the shore, like the song of the Sirens trying to distract us from our truth.
We continue to look at the horizon, to honor our ancestors, and to demand respect for our history.
Because the Hellenic Heritage belongs to those who have the courage and Spiritual stature to swim in its deep waters.
